Finest Group of Orthopedic Professionals Around

I have had two bad knees for at least 30 years and only recently discovered a very arthritic left hip. After the hip discovery it was decided to replace hip first. This entire process from initial appointment with Dr. Sparling, hip school, hip replacement surgery, physical therapy and follow-on visits were all flawless. One of the best parts was everyone always letting me know what to expect. Very reassuring to have this knowledge to successfully move forward. This process continued very seamlessly with Dr. Roberts on my knee replacements. The education process was equally important during this knee replacement. I had one knee replacement on my left knee and a hardware removal on my right knee. Several months later I followed up with a right knee replacement.

Rebound is the finest group of orthopedic professionals around. Truly a professional, caring and very skilled team of medical specialists. Thank you to all for offering excellent care and advice during all of the procedures. I would recommend Rebound and especially Drs. Roberts and Sparling to anyone looking for excellent orthopedic care.

Blessed to have had the best doctor and staff

I fell and broke my ankle. Had to have surgery with a plate and screws. I had such great care from start to finish. Dr. Woll was always so encouraging and I knew I was getting the best from him and his staff. I can't say enough about Dr. Woll and Rebound Clinic. The staff really cares for you as a patient but more importantly as a person. Thank you for caring for me and for being so kind not only to me, but to my family as well. I feel very blessed to have had the best doctor and staff.

Walking and Enjoying Life Thanks to Dr. Woll

We had just moved here in June of 2005. In July I feel down the staircase and shattered my RT. ankel. I had no doctors as of yet. I am thankful every day for the brilliant surgery Dr. Woll performed. I received 10 screws and a metal plate. I remember him asking me before surgery what I expected from the operation. I told him I would still love to be able to walk and dance and play with my grandkids. To this day I think of him when ever I am walking and enjoying life. I thank you very much Dr. Woll you are truly my hero. 🙂

Back in Action Thanks to Dr. Wei

Dr. Wei fixed chronic shoulder pain, calcific tendonitis, and frozen shoulder. Today I practiced taekwondo for an hour, mowed two lawns, pulled weeds, fixed a broken window, replaced a light fixture, fixed some other little things, dug a big hole, and cleaned the house for a couple of hours. After a day like this, I keep expecting my shoulder to hurt a lot, but it doesn't at all. Thanks again to you and your team! It's so good to be able to work again.

I can walk pain free after 3 years of severe pain

I haven't been to see Dr. Crary for at least 8 years, because I don't have to! He did such a great job surgically that I am doing very well.

When I first started seeing Dr. Crary, I was already diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis in my talus bone. I could barely walk and preferred to hop on one foot to get around. I had already been to two other physicians one of which performed some surgery. Dr. Crary took bone from my knee and replaced it with the necrosis in my ankle.

Wow, I can walk pain free after 3 years of severe pain. Today I am walking and cycling long distances and am pain free.

Thank you for giving me my freedom again. It's been a long time since I was last there, and I would say that's a good thing!

Quality Care From Dr. Gramstad and Dr. Roberts

Beyond Excellent. I have had many orthopedic surgeries over the years (9). Had my shoulder repaired on Friday and was without pain on Sunday and back to work Monday. Dr. Gramstad and Jennifer Hermes are the best. A friend at work recently had a similar surgery with less damage through a well known all inclusive medical facility/hospital and was out for 6 weeks. If you want it done right you have to go through Rebound. Dr. Roberts replaced my knee in 2012 and it has been trouble free. I can't emphasize the quality and how much they care enough.

Excellent Experience with Dr. Borus

After some discussion, Dr. Borus agreed that I was a good candidate for Bi-Lateral Total Knee Replacements, and I had them done in June of 2008. Within 8 weeks I was back in my dog agility class and by 11 weeks I could walk 5 miles. I was very dedicated to the PT, which is one reason Dr. Borus was willing to do both knees at the same time. He's an excellent surgeon and I received excellent care at SW Medical Center. Since then my brother-in-law, my mother and a few friends have had Dr. Borus do their knee replacements and we all agree that he's the best! I'm almost seven years post surgery and I'm hiking, showing my dogs in agility and other sports and more active than I was before I had my knees replaced. I have no regrets!

Dr. Roberts patient Megan

My daughter Megan is a competitive athlete she is tenuous and driven. She was nationally rank in track, And loves all things sports . She tore her ACL and Meniscus the fall of her 8th grade year.

As a parent I was heartbroken for her because of her love of sports. We searched for the right doctor and finally I had several friends recommend us to Dr. Roberts. We met him and my daughter instantly connected with him. It was hard to trust someone with my little girl, but he just made it easy. He educated us on the injury and helped us through surgery and told us what to expect. I was thinking, I just don’t want her to have pain when she gets older, my daughter on the other hand just wanted to get back to competing. With help from Steve Rocereto she thrived, and even looked forward to seeing her Athletic Trainer. He is amazing and kind.

She got back on the court received All League Honorable mention in Volleyball, and second team All-conference in Basketball (even with missing the last 4 games of basketball). While playing basketball, she had fallen on the court, my heart dropped as she looked up at me. I knew it was bad, yes she tore her ACL on her other leg…. I called Dr. Roberts. Second surgery was done without a hitch the Hospital, Surgical team, Office personnel, Physical therapist, Athletic trainer are all top notch. I have absolutely have no complaints and for this mom that's a huge compliment. She is on the road to recovery and we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Roberts, Kyle, and Steve Rocereto! You made one of the most difficult times of our lives, so much easier, due to the wonderful care you provided. I would highly recommend Dr. Roberts and his team to anyone. Megan is looking forward to competing again and wants to be an Athletic Trainer one day.

Two Successful Total Knee Replacements

Dr. Todd Borus, MD and Bret Lautt, PT OCS are my heroes. They gave me my life back. I’ve had two total knee replacements, 9 months apart. It was supposed to be a year apart, but, well, my other knee didn’t want to wait, I guess.

Thanks to these two gentlemen, I am able to walk again with no crutches and no cane. I am very happy. I walked with crutches for nearly 7 years. My right elbow can testify on the pain of that!

Dr. Rust In My Corner

Dr. Rust had given me my freedom back after a long battle with a planter ulcer due to my type 2 diabetes. I had fought this issue through many infections and hospitalizations and having Dr. Rust in my corner when I finally was referred to Rebound was the best thing that has ever happened to me. He was extremely knowledgeable and caring and we exhausted every option before he would even consider my amputation. Once it was done I healed so fast and now I am walking again which never seemed like it was even a option. He made it possible that the one thing I have dreamed of will be possible. One day I will walk with my daughter on her wedding day and as a matter of fact I just walked her to the bus for the first time and it was amazing!

Outstanding job, Dr. Colville!

It's been around 14 months since my shoulder surgery and I can't say enough good things about my experience. My shoulder feels like it's 20 years younger then the rest of me! I've been back to the gym for months and I'm better then before the injury. Dr. Colville did an outstanding job!

Get your self fixed and engage life!

I had my left knee replaced at 51 due to a college soccer injury. I was told when I was 27 that I would someday need a total knee replacement. I waited many years until the process was perfected and they lasted.

Being sports minded, I wanted a physician who worked on athletes and my research led me to Dr. Roberts.

It's been four years and the recent check up showed the knee is still in great shape, after:

3 - Seattle to Portland Bike Rides
1 - 110 Mile back packing trip with the scouts
6750 Miles total biking
1 - 11 day expedition Into the Grand Canyon

I took my son to Dr. Wong for a broken finger that needed to be surgically repaired. He was amazing with my son (who has Autism and is not always the easiest to deal with)! Total Knee Surgery in June 2014

Thank you Dr. Borus and team! I practiced physical therapy for 16 years and live in southern Oregon and had been postponing much needed total knee surgeries for the last five years. I am only 58 and the research I did indicated that the custom Conformis implant would give me the best chance of long term success. Dr. Borus came highly recommended so I had the surgery in June 2014. He exceeded every expectation from the the lengthy initial appointment to the surgery, to the many follow up appointments. I am 11 months post op and have no pain on standing whatsoever. I have several friends who had this surgery at other places around the country and I feel so fortunate to not have any of the issues that they are having. It has not been easy, but I plan to have my other knee done soon by Dr. Borus and have sent everyone I know looking for an orthopedist his way. The Salmon Creek Hospital is stellar with one of the lowest infection rates I have seen, not to mention top knotch care. This is very high praise coming from a former physical therapist. Thank you Dr. Borus!

Amazed with Dr. Ellis

I was All League outside line backer for Skyview high school 2011-2014, in my last regular season game of my senior year before we went to the state quarter finals I blew out my knee. My MCL, PCL, and posterio corner of my meniscus had to be reconstructed. Not only was this a blow physically, but mentally as well. I went from thinking I was invincible to not being able to do what I loved, playing football or any sports for that matter. I saw a different Doctor in Texas at first who at the time I thought was amazing. He was the U.S ski team's surgeon, so I was ecstatic I had the opportunity to go to him. I was very wrong. My knee was in constant pain after the surgery for an entire year. Constantly grinding and popping every step I took. My motivation was at an all time low. When I moved back to Vancouver, Washington I met up with doctor Ellis and He went in and made my knee feel practically good as new. My biggest regret was not going to Dr. Ellis in the first place. It is amazing what the man can do. He fixed my knee, which in turn has given me new opportunities in life, and has increased my quality of life ten fold. I would recommend him to anyone with any knee or shoulder issues as he is extremely well-versed in both practices. I am proud to announce I will be playing football at MT. San Antonio Junior College this fall and it is 100% because of Dr. Ellis. Very excited to show him my progress in the future! Thank You again!!

From Arthritis Pain to Hiking, Backpacking and Biking

Hip replacement at 61. Three months after surgery hiking Dog Mountain (7 mi; 3,000 ft elevation). Two months later, backpacking in the Canadian Rockies (carried my 30 lbs. and passed the extra weight to family). Now, biking 40 miles with ease and looking forward to more wilderness backpacking.

I would refer anyone to Rebound and Dr. DaSilva

On 11/6/14 I was sparring in my martial arts class Krav Maga. As I blocked a hook punch with my right arm it dislocated my shoulder and actually tore my labrum off the glenoid bone. I saw Dr. DaSilva and he ended up doing the Bankart repair surgery procedure on 12/19/14. He did an excellent job and after 4 months of physical therapy I am just about at 100%. Dr. Borus performed MAKOplasty on both knees. Recovering my mobility pursuant to those procedures was like a gift from the gods. I can now walk, run, climb, bicycle, etc. with no pain or difficulty. I am 78 years old and enjoying life to the max because of Dr. Borus and Rebound. I am profoundly grateful to both.

Dr. Nemecek and staff are above and beyond EXCELLENT!

I had a ruptured disc at C6-C7 due to a bone spur from advanced Osteoarthritis that was compressing my spinal cord causing severe nerve pain going down my neck, both arms, shoulder blades, & jaw. If I could rate Dr. Nemececk & Jason Graeme, PA with above and beyond excellent, I would. I was in excruciating pain for 7 months being put through physical therapy, acupuncture, & epidural injections because the entire time I had to fight my insurance company. I'm fortunate to not have been paralyzed & that's because once I was seen by Dr. Nemececk, he immediately scheduled surgery. I had no pain for the first 10 days then it came back because the spinal cord had been compressed for so long it would take time to heal. Dr. Nemececk & Jason were right. It has now been 4 months since surgery & I have no nerve pain! I can't thank Dr. Nemececk, Jason, Christy, Diana & the entire Rebound staff enough for giving me my life back. I've never experienced such horrific pain in my life, but they fixed it and I feel so much better. Currently, I'm recovering from a total knee replacement, which was a cake walk compared to the nerve pain. I'm 43 years old & determined to beat this Osteoarthritis one body part at a time. If you're considering surgery, listen to the doctors at Rebound and have patience and determination to get through it. You'll be glad you did. You're in good hands with the best Neuro surgeon if you are fortunate enough to have Dr. Nemececk. Thank you!

Thanks.

Could not be in better hands anywhere

Sudden acute disc herniation left me totally incapacitated in Jan. 2014. Dr. Shanno saw me immediately and I woke up from surgery totally pain free and cannot even tell I ever had a problem over a year later. I am a retired Physician Assistant who worked with the Rebound staff for 20 years prior to retiring in the ED at SW Washington Medical Center. I can assure you that you could not be in better hands anywhere.

Thank you Dr. Borus. MY HERO.

I was referred to see Dr. Borus to discuss a partial knee replacement, after an initial visit, tests, x-rays, etc., he decided it was the IT band causing my yearlong painful knee. A treatment plan was put into play, no surgery suggested 🙂 , after a ultrasound cortisone injection , P/T and water therapy, I am pain free. Thank you Dr. Borus. MY HERO. The facility and staff all top notch.

Amazing work Dr. Woll and Rebound staff!

In January 2014, I called Rebound Orthopedics to ask Dr. Woll to do a below knee amputation of my right leg. I had broken my ankle in three places in 1974, had been in a posterior splint (to immobilize the ankle from the movement that caused so much pain) since 2005, and had been taking opioid medication for many years in an effort to keep working full-time despite “severe post-traumatic arthritis” in the ankle joint. By the end of 2013, my ankle pain was so severe that I hobbled through work each day leaning on a cane, and had stopped exercising. The pain was so severe that it kept me awake each night, as I twisted about, trying to find some position of comfort. I hurt so badly, so much of the time, that I decided I would rather get by on a prosthetic leg than to suffer any longer with grinding, shooting pain all the time.

A major concern was that the last time I had seen Dr. Woll, he had estimated that ankle joint replacement surgery was still five years in the future. Thinking that it had only been three years since I’d heard Dr. Woll’s estimate, I concluded that amputation was my only viable option. When Dr. Woll saw me in clinic a few days after my call for an appointment, he smiled when he heard my request and told me he was very pleased with the newly FDA-approved STAR ankle prosthesis, and offered me a joint replacement surgery. It had indeed been five years since my last visit.

Ten days later, I was admitted to the hospital for surgery. At 11:00 AM the next morning, I was in a friend’s car, discharged home, in far less pain than I’d lived with for the past 27 years. Six weeks after the operation, I was back to work (on a knee scooter, for sure, but working). Seven weeks after surgery, I was off all pain medication.

I knew, when I requested surgery, that Dr. Woll was on orders with the US Army to return to Active Duty (for his fourth deployment overseas!). In his absence, Dr. Woll left me in the capable hands of Dr. Pierce and the Rebound staff, all of whom did a phenomenal job in my post-op care. With each and every visit to any of the Rebound offices, I was met and assisted by distinctively pleasant, skilled receptionists, patient services representatives, x-ray and cast technicians, medical assistants and medical providers.

By the time Dr. Woll returned from service in Afghanistan, I was walking without a limp, working full-time without mechanical aid or pain medication, riding my bike, driving…in short, living life to the hilt. To conclude that the operation and post-operative results have been life-changing would be an understatement. There are very few activities Dr. Woll told me to avoid (ex: racket sports), but I basically do anything and everything I want. My quality of life is, in a word, excellent.

Dr. Le gave me my life back

Five years ago, I was frightened at the thought of back surgery but reached a point where there was no other option. Dr. Le gave me my life back.... I was terrified to have all 3 affected levels of my spine treated. So, four years later... (Last May) I had no choice but to have the next 2 levels treated. Again Dr. Le was fantastic ... I have never felt better and in 40 years my back has never been as pain free as it is now. Thank you to Dr. Le, his staff and crew for taking such great care. I have recommended him to many..

Thank you to Dr. DaSilva and Rebound Staff

In the fall of 2004, I went to Hawaii to enjoy 2 weeks of time with family on the Big Island. I Unfortunately fell in one of their warm ponds and broke my right ankle. Not only was my right ankle broken but as time went on, the left side of my body began to compensate and get weak, my left knee eventually gave out. Dr. DeSilva was following me with this intense pain, with injections and therapy. We all did the best we could until we had to make the decision that my knee needed to be replaced. I had my knee replaced in April of 2014 with Dr. DeSilva. I cannot begin to say how much my new knee gave me a bit more freedom with pain free activities. Even though I'm still waiting to receive my new ankle. The patience from the staff, the consideration, careful planning and aftercare from Dr. DeSilva was absolutely outstanding. I would refer all my friends to him and the staff there at Rebound. Even though I am still waiting another major surgery on my ankle in April, I am actually happy and anticipating getting my new lease on life. Even though these are major surgeries the staff and physicians at Rebound have made this an exciting time in my life. I look forward to the new me.

Results better than my wildest dreams

Thank you Dr. Ellis and staff!

You are the best. I had total knee replacement 6 months ago and the only regret is that I did not do it sooner. The docs, staff, hospital and rehab folks all worked incredibly well together to make the recovery amazingly short and the results better than my wildest dreams. What is this 60 year old ready for now? Looking at snow boarding equipment!

Thank you Dr. Musleh and team

On Feb 6th 2015 I put my quality of life in the hands of Dr. Musleh & team. I put off back surgery for 14 years because at the time I was told there was nothing could be done. At the end of 2014 I ended up in Dr Musleh's office. I thank God I did. After some tests we found out that the nerve in my right leg was about to be cut off by bone growth. On Feb 6th 2015 I had a 9 hour surgery to fix the problem. Fuse L4 to S1 and cut the bone that was cutting off my nerve. The minute I opened my eyes there was NO pain in my right leg and my back feels so much better. Thank you Dr. Musleh and Team for your service.

How lucky was I. First to be admitted 2 days after totally destroying my tendon. Dr. Southerland and Joel Phillips put me back together. Dr. mentioned I had some of the worst damage that he had ever seen. After three months of rehab, the bend was only 70%. Another surgery was looming. Dr. Southerland took one look at the knee and declared "go back in the gym and face the pain". I did, and he was right! After 8 months of difficult rehab, the bend is now close to normal. How important it is to receive exceptional attention during the process of healing!

Successful Surgery and Physical Therapy Outcome

I didn't wear my knee out by being a couch potato; I wore it out by running, skiing, hiking, water skiing, golf, horse back riding and my greatest fear before coming into this surgery was that I might not be able to do these things again. I heard about Dr. Roberts at lunch while skiing with friends at Mt Hood Meadows and during our conversation they told me about this great Doc that worked on the Portland Trail Blazers fixing up their injuries and I decided he was the man that could help me. The old bowed out leg that hurt is now straight as an arrow; nine months later I was skiing Mt Hood Meadows on the weekly ski bus and am so happy when I aggressively walk the trails, golf and work out five days a week. I am getting ready to go to a "Boot Camp" at my gym and never think I have a knee replacement unless it is to brag about my doctor and the successful surgery outcome. I did the follow up exercises faithfully and went to Rebound where Mike pushed me into a great rehab routine. I am looking at having the second knee done this next March after ski season and know Dr. Roberts will take good care of me and my knee.

Many thanks to Dr. Musleh and staff

I would like to thank Dr. Musleh for my very successful back surgery in 2014. After going through severe pain in my lower back and the need to carry a cane to keep from falling caused from sudden loss of control of my left leg.

Today I am able to walk and stand with no limits, I am back to doing things that I have been unable to accomplish in several years.

I recently returned from a trip to Sofia Bulgaria, where I was able to walk around that city on rough skinny stone side walks with no pain or worry.

Many thanks again to Dr. Musleh and his staff for all they have done for me.
I will turn 76 in May and feel like I'm 46 again.

My primary goal for both joint replacements was to get back on my bike. I reached my goals. I ride one week long and a few weekend rides during the dry season.I want to value the fine folks who assisted Dr. Roberts, like Lori, whom I always looked forward to see, and Kyle, who also provided care and directly assisted Dr. Roberts. Then there were the pre-op folks that got me ready and nursing and OT staff who took care of me while I was on the ward. And, lastly, there is that most important person who provided care before, during and after the cutting and replacements, that would be Sharon. She helped me get back to my bike. Thanks Sharon! It does take a village, doesn't it?

A Matching Pair of Knees!

In June 2010, it was decision time. I had been waiting for 10 years for a new knee. My visit was for my final cortizone shot. Surgery could have been scheduled before the month was out, but I told my Dr. that I needed to go home and "chew on the idea for awhile." The thought of six to nine months of recoup time, and all that plastic in me for a new knee - just didn't seem like the best thing I had been waiting so long for.

Much to my surprise, the very next night after receiving that last shot, there was a segment on King 5 News, about Dr.Borus and knee replacement surgery. The surgery showed great promise of getting me back on my feet quickly, with about six weeks of physical therapy.

I researched the Makoplasty procedure and Dr.Borus. I called my insurance at least four times to be sure it was covered - and it was. The trip to Vancouver, WA takes about 3 1/2 hours from the little town I live in just north of Bremerton, WA. At my consultation, Dr. Borus assured me that I was going to go from "as bad as it gets- to as good as it gets." That is exactly what happened.

Ten days after my surgery, at my follow-up visit, I was off my pain meds and NO walker and NO cane. After the first year visit, I had done so well that I didn't need to come back for two years. By then it was September 2013, and I had just lost my husband in July 2013. That meant, I needed to wait until summer of 2014, after school let out, to have my daughter accompany me for the surgery and visits.

In August 2014, I had my left knee replaced with Dr.Borus. This time, I was off the pain meds, NO walker or cane in 8 days. Everyone is different, but I can assure you that the healing time of this procedure is nothing short of a miracle.

Dr. Borus and his team, as well as, the exceptional care you receive at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, is the best you can hope for, anywhere. I now have a matching pair of new knees. The entire experience has been well worth going the extra miles, not once-but twice. Hands down, it has been among the best decisions I have ever made, and that truly is "as good as it gets."

That meant, I needed to wait until summer of 2014, after school let out, to have my daughter accompany me for the surgery and visits....

Thank you Dr. Roberts!

These Doctors of Rebound literally gave me my life back

On 10/10/2014 I awoke with bad left arm pain, it continued to get worse over the next week. I started visiting my GP and each time came away with a different or no diagnosis. I was issued weak pain killers each time. It got to the point where I felt the doctors thought I was just seeking drugs for recreation and making up the pain which made it even more depressing. My director at work, seeing the state I was in, told me her husband had great success at Rebound and I should just walk in and ask to be treated which I did. My very first Doctor was Dr. Jacobs, who was wonderful. He had a good idea what I had but didn't have the imaging yet, he administered a cortisol shot deep into the arm and for the first time in weeks I finally had some relief. My next appointment was Dr. Gambee who diagnosed me initially from just seeing my arm on top of my head! This evidently is a strong indication of a herniated disk pressing on the arm nerve leaving the neck, which was later confirmed by MRI. Then I was handed off to Dr. Le for surgery, he as the preceding two was excellent. He described the two methods he can do to fix it listing the pros and cons of each. I picked one and had the surgery about a week later. From the moment I awoke I knew it was fixed I had zero pain in my arm FINALLY after two months! These Doctors of Rebound literally gave me my life back, thank you so much god bless. Every single staff member was professional and courteous from the front desk to the Xray technician ALL of them were exceedingly polite and kind, I would not hesitate to recommend or use them again myself.

MAKOplasty Patient Testimonial

testimonial 6

This testimonial is taken from an email sent to Dr. Todd Borus eight months after the patient's MAKOplasty partial knee resurfacing procedure.

Hi Dr. Borus,These pictures show the raison d'etre for my wonderful new knees.
I just got back on Sunday from backpacking for 6 days and 62 miles on the w. side of the Wonderland Trail on Mt. Rainier, with over 16,000′ of climbing (and more importantly, descending!). My knees worked GREAT! It was exactly where I wanted to be, high in the alpine meadows with massive, majestic Mt. Rainier alongside all the way.The morning after I returned I got up at 5 am and swam 1.1 miles across the Columbia River in the Labor Day Cross the Columbia swim in Hood River.

Oh yes, and I just bought a stand up paddleboard after having started that this summer. I got a racing board just in case I decide to compete…

Thank you for EVERYTHING!

"I had my first MAKOplasty surgery in May of 2009 and the second in Nov, of 2011. Before the surgery I was only able to function with Celebrex and I couldn't take it anymore. I then tried very expensive braces, but found them awkward and uncomfortable. I found that I was not going on the hikes I used to go on, someone had to help me out of my kayak and carry my boat, and I was always aware of my knee and the pain I was experiencing even when I wasn't doing anything active. Finally, I scheduled my first total knee surgery and was so delighted to find out about Makoplasty just by sheer accident. Now I can do anything.Dr. Borus is one of the best surgeons and human beings I have encountered. He is encouraging, patient, and willing to answer all your questions. I am immensely grateful. "

100% Recovery

Rebound guided me in proper progressive rehab and continued life activity exercises. Dr Wei did my rotator cuff surgery using screws and reattatchment fiber and I have 100% recovery. Last summer at age 61 I won 4 state swimming events and second in 2 events. Not bad considering knee replacements in 1999 and 2010 and shoulder surgery 2013.

Thank you, Dr. Musgrave

Dr. Musgrave, Thank you so much for the wonderful work you did on my thumb!

I severed the flexor tendon on my left thumb while I was whitewater kayaking in northern Minnesota in late May, 2014. It was the last rapid, on the last day of an otherwise dream-worthy trip. I was really worried my paddling would be limited due to the fact I couldn't grip my paddle. However, Dr. Musgrave reassured me that I'd still be able to grip a paddle after surgery, and that I'd likely be able to start paddling about 3 months post-op. August 18th was circled on my calender as the date I could return to paddling. Well, after a smooth surgery and some PT, I was cleared to paddle class II-III by mid-July.By the time my target date of August 18th rolled around I was already back to paddling class V by August 18th!!!!!

I just got back from a paddling trip in Nepal, and it's all thanks to Dr. Musgrave making my thumb work properly. If my thumb didn't work there was no way I would have been able to paddle in Nepal. THANK YOU!!!

New Knees – One Couple’s Story

CarolDennisDrRoberts-225x300

Carol and Dennis with Dr. Roberts after surgery.

Carol and Dennis, patients of Donald Roberts, M.D., split their time between Portland, OR and Sun Valley, ID. After watching Dennis recover from bilateral knee replacements, Carol decided to undergo the same procedure the following year. These enthusiastic patients share their stories as encouragement to others considering knee replacement surgery.

Carol's Testimonial

Carol standing victoriously on her two new knees over Hell Roaring Lake near Sun Valley, ID

I have suffered from osteoarthritis in my knees for several years. I stopped running in my twenties, and in recent years cut back on hiking and biking. I stopped skiing in 2009. My knees just couldn't take the pain any more.Four years ago I met Rebound's Dr. Don Roberts, who replaced both of my husband Dennis's knees in 2008. We knew the minute we met Dr. Roberts that we had found the best surgeon for the job. Once Dennis' recovery was complete, and I saw my husband able to pursue his passion, skiing, I knew there was hope for me.Following in Dennis' footsteps, I, too, had both knees replaced. I just celebrated my one-year anniversary since my bi-lateral total joint replacement surgery. I can't believe the strength I've gained with my new knees- I'm even dancing again -in Zumba class! Of course I modify the bouncing a little, but I truly feel like I've gotten a second shot at living my life fully, actively and happily. Thanks to Dr. Roberts and his amazing Rebound team, I look forward to standing on top of the mountain and skiing down with my husband. Our new knees are four reasons to believe there's hope for anyone whose knees have aged sooner than their spirits.

Dennis' Testimonial

Hiking-on-a-ridge-overlooking-Redfish-Lake-near-Sun-Valley-280x300

I wouldn't recommend this any more than Dr. Roberts would. But, I had bi-lateral total knee replacement surgery in 2008. Last year I skied more than one hundred days! I also mountain biked for another thirty or forty days.

My wife, Carol, participated throughout the planning and preparation as well as the recovery from surgery, which was crucial. We both developed enormous respect for Dr. Roberts as a person and as a surgeon. His integrity and wisdom were evidenced throughout the process and was reflected by the attitudes and standards of his staff.

Miracles happened twice with Dr. Roberts in our lives. One year ago my wife had bilateral total knee replacement surgery. And with her drive and the inspiration of Dr. Roberts and his staff, she is raring to go too. She will be back skiing with me this year.

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Roberts for total knee replacement. I encourage anyone wanting to reclaim their life to make a commitment to themselves to come back strong to do the things they love.

I am very grateful to Rebound and Dr. Borus for improving my life style. I was living with immense pain. As a result, I have had both hips replaced, one knee partially replaced and one knee scoped. I am able to do anything I want physically. I exercise on the eliptical 4 times a week for 20 minutes each time. I hike with my wife every chance we get. In fact, we have hiked the Great Wall of China and in the Andes in Machu Picchu Peru. Believe me, these were very steep hikes. Plus we ride our bycles often. What more can I say. Dr. Sparling and his staff provided exceptional care

Dr. Sparling and his staff at Rebound (Vancouver) provided exceptional care for total hip replacements (left and right) in 2013 and 2014. Within a month of the 2014 surgery I was able to begin an exercise program using an elliptical trainer and lost 15 lbs in 3 months and fit into jeans that had been too tight for several years. The surgery preformed by Dr. Sparling allowed me to return to a more active lifestyle that I thought was lost after retirement.

Dr. Roberts suggested knee replacement as long ago as 10 years but finally had it done after retiring in Aug. 2014. Knee replacement is not easy but certainly made better with the care and precautions taken by Dr. Roberts and physical therapy. After 3 months I started golfing again and walking miles each day. My father and son both had Dr. Roberts do knee surgeries over the last 20 years. All were successful. I love no pain and activity is back to normal! Thank you!

Professional, Personable and Thorough

I had tendinitis from racquetball and visited doctors and chiropractors until I finally asked myself who can I trust about a sports injury. If Rebound takes care of the Trailblazers and Pilots, they can take care of me.

From the start, I felt like I received top rate service: professional, personable and thorough. I was particularly impressed with the PT on-site. Doug coached me back to recovery with patience and encouragement, reminding me it would take time. It did but I'm happy to say I'm back playing with no symptoms. I recommend you guys whenever I can.

Thank you, Dr. Jacobs

On Christmas Day 2013, I was doing dishes. Put the LAST dish away and it shattered in my hand! Long story short, I cut my thumb deeply. Ended up severing the nerve! We don't realize who much we USE that thumb until we CAN'T! Pressure, feeling...gone.

Thanks to Dr. Jacobs and his fine skills, sewed my nerves back together! (didn't know you could do that!?) It took several months for growth and feeling to begin coming back, but I now have feeling back in my thumb, I have pressure sensitivity and the most important...I can FUNCTION! It's not perfect, but at least I can button my pants, pick up a cup, tell if it is being burned by something HOT, etc. Not to mention, I'm a pianist, biker, teacher, dirt bike rider...all of which are pretty tough to do without the use of a thumb. (dumb) 🙂 I think over time it will still continue to improve.

I'm so grateful to have the use of all FIVE of my digits back! 🙂 THANKS!

🙂 THANKS!

Thank you Dr. Ellis and staff!

I tore my ACL on my right knee and had my ACL replaced in January of 2013. Dr. Ellis performed the surgery on my knee and did a wonderful job. After about 10 months of recovery I returned to play ultimate Frisbee. Thank you again!

Thank you, Dr. Shanno!

I went to Dr. Shanno for a second opinion after being told by a well reviewed Portland neurosurgeon that I needed disc replacement surgery immediately. Dr. Shanno advised against surgery and suggested that the probability would be that it would heal on it's own over the next several months to a year. Within two months I was pain free and within one year I regained my strength. All is well and I am SO HAPPY to not have had unnecessary surgery. Thank you Dr. Shanno!!!

Deeply Grateful to Dr. Le

In 2001 I had a spinal fusion for a congenital pars defect which caused decades of chronic pain and excruciating leg pain. Dr. Hoang Le did the surgury, and as a result I have essentially no pain, and am back, after years of disability, to doing whatever I want. Dr. Le, you appreciate the days weeks of pain I have not had in almost 4 years. I am DEEPLY grateful, as is my wife, Patty. Thank you Rebound Team and SW Washington Hospital.

Thank you Dr. Roberts!

Thank you for giving me a pain free knee joint replacement and for improving my quality of life!  From the day after surgery, my joint pain has disappeared.  During my 2 night's stay in the hospital, the nurses kept asking my pain level, as high as I got was "2" on a scale of 1 to 10.  Two days post-op, I switched from crutches to a cane, and in 5 days I walked 2 miles on Cottonwood Beach, again, pain free.  I was amazed!

In two short months, I was hiking Hamilton and Dog Moutain in the Columbia Gorge.  Last month my wife and I summited South Sister.  On September 15th, we completed Mt. Hood's Timberline Trail in a four day backpack circuit.  We climbed from 5600 feet elevation, gaining the west Elliott moraine at 7300 feet, descending to a 2 mile traverse of Elliott Glacier, and then rejoing the Timberline Trail.  Our 4 day adventure took us over 45 miles of terrain with a total elevation gain and loss of 20,000 vertical feet.  We have plans for climbing Mt. Hood this winter and will be cross country skiing all around the Cascade Range as well.

Thank you again for you and your team's fine job.

Dr. Edward Sparling is one of my heroes!

Since I was 17 years old I have lived with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Osteoarthritis (OA) and Fibromyalgia (FMS). On New Years Eve 2008 Dr. Sparling did my left hip replacement and now on July 27, 2015 he did my right hip replacement. Arthritis may stink but my doctor rocks!

I have had a great doctors overseeing my care but Dr. Edward Sparling is one of my heroes! In addition to Dr. Sparling, it takes a team and I fully realize this; Over 200 doctors, nurses, physical therapists, office staff, schedulers, social workers, administrators, caregivers, billing, etc. it takes to make sure I benefit from a foreign hardware being placed in my body to help get me back on my feet, I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. I thank everyone on the 8th floor for the hospitality and care!

I have had so many well-known clinics, hospitals and doctors in my life and I founded an arthritis program at a California base healthcare system but Rebound and PeaceHealth are the utmost healthcare systems that have helped me get back on my feet and for this I will always appreciate the services, care and specialized attention to detail for safety and infection prevention.

Although I'm not looking forward to the next surgeries (my knees), knowing Rebound will be the leader of my healthcare team puts me at ease. Thank you everyone that cared for me in 2008 and 2015 from Rebound!

Dr. Ellis is Personable and Efficient

Dr. Ellis did not try to push surgery like some docs would. He gave me a shot of cortisone and after a couple of weeks it reduced my pain. He is personable, knowledgable, and efficient. I will go back when needed in the future.

Excellent Doctors and Excellent Therapists

Initially, Dr. Crary had to visit me! I was brought to Peace Health Southwest by ambulance, having been involved in a head-on collision not far from my home. I can't remember much in the beginning; I sustained a TBI and stayed in a coma for a couple weeks. The story, so they tell me, was that I had sustained injuries in various areas of my body, the most critical being my brain injury, and then massive damage to my right foot and ankle. The option was to amputate. By some huge miracle, Dr. Crary attended the (ankle) injury and believed that it could be corrected with surgery rather than amputation. He operated in a fashion which looked much like piecing together a puzzle, judging by the many (MANY) x-rays taken from that point on.

Dr. Crary continued to see me during my stay, and then long after for subsequent corrective surgeries, and then throughout months and months of physical therapy. No one was really sure how this situation would pan out; I think the hope was that the damage could be corrected with the closest resemblance possible to my foot before the accident.

With each surgery, my ankle and foot decided it wanted to be back to normal. By the final surgery, it was a new ankle, but one which functioned with more and more ease. With each visit to Dr. Crary, and each visit to Lisa Seitz (my physical therapist,) I re-learned how to walk properly to the point where those who know me continue to point out that the limp has all but disappeared. I couldn't have gotten better care if I had asked. The Lord was with me that day, and blessed me with excellent doctors and excellent therapists, and a seeminly impossible chance to heal.

Dr. Modha Saved My Life

I have had Dr. Modha for my tumors for 5 years and would not have anyone else treat me. He is very straight forward and very honest with me. I have had 5 surgeries and he did all of them. He has saved my life with a couple of surgeries, and in my opinion he is the best, and my family thinks highly of him.

Thank you,

I Couldn’t Ask for a Better Team to Help Manage My Mobility Issues

I have seen both Dr. Ellis for knee issues and Dr. Crary for foot/bunion pain - I initially saw Dr. Crary back in 2011 - he was the SEVENTH opinion I got for what seemed like impending bunion surgery - every other Dr. I went to seemed to want to cut into my feet, break bones and insert screws (even though no pain). Not only does Rebound have the most state of the art equipment of any the offices I had visited, Dr. Crary was not quick to say this was the only option - as a matter of fact he told me that unless things were painful it was not appropriate to operate. His analysis was thorough and I felt that he had reasonable evidence with the more current equipment to make a statement that made sense, contrary to others. I really felt like he was a straight shooter and gave me the treatment plans best for me, not for the Rebound Office bottom line.

I recently had to go in to see Dr. Ellis for knee issues and again Dr. Crary for some additional foot issues -here it is four years later an both Drs. seem to know more than most I have experienced. Both Drs. I believe have either played basketball or another sport so I feel like they can relate and empathize with my issues. In addition, the physical therapy unit is right there at the offices, which tells me there is added synergy among the staff to ensure the best care for patients - I was impressed! I feel like I am in the best of hands with the best equipment for analysis and the best doctors - I couldn't ask for a better team to help manage my mobility issues (and with honest answers)- I am thankful to have them as a resource and would highly recommend to anyone.

The New Knees Have Given Me a New Lease on Life

I'm 73 . In 2003 I saw Dr. Hayes about an extreme calcium deposit on my right knee and Dr. Hayes removed it with a day surgery . He told me that I would need a replacement in the near future .He also recommend Bariatric Surgery for my morbid obesity. I lost 140 pounds and the knee lasted until the fall of 2011. I received my second knee in Oct 2914. Dr. Hayes had retired and referred me to Dr. Roberts. I honestly don't think that you could receive better care anywhere in the nation. I did not know much about Dr. Roberts before I have my first operation. I then researched him and discovered his outstanding record. If you need a knee, I totally recommend Rebound.

I knew that physical therapy was EXTREMELY important for me to regain movement and flexibility in my knee. I requested Mike Baer who I had met back in 2003 with the removal of the calcium deposits. I told him to PUSH me so I would get the most from my new knees. He did.

My wife and I have joined a coached exercise program to help keep us in good health. We are both seeing good results. So I now tell people that I have a pair a 20 year old's knees in a 73 year old body.

My last thought is if you have real pain in your knees and have been told that you will need a joint replacement in your near fixture don't put it off. Do it you will be amazed at the results. I have absolutely no pain anymore- I can pretty much do whatever I want to. I like the outdoors and I fish, hunt, and go on hikes. The new knees have given me a new lease on life. The knees along with the extreme weight loss are the reason.
