Rebound Orthopedics and Neurosurgery is pleased to announce the addition of new specialists, Deven Karvelas, M.D., and Matthew McGehee, M.D., to their esteemed Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team.

Deven Karvelas, M.D., is a board certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation who joined Rebound July 18. After finishing medical school at Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Washington and his fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound at University of Michigan.

Dr. Karvelas specializes in the management of spine (both neck and back) and other musculoskeletal disorders. His philosophy of care is to encourage patients to be engaged with him in developing a comprehensive, active, and patient-centered treatment plan. To do this, he utilizes patient education and coordinated rehabilitation, combined with minimally invasive, non-surgical spine procedures or ultrasound-guided joint injections when appropriate. Prior to beginning his medical training, he practiced as a massage therapist and yoga teacher.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation board certified specialist and Chicago native, Matthew McGehee, M.D., joined Rebound June 6. Dr. McGehee has sub-specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of spine and musculoskeletal injuries. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan, where he served as Chief Resident. He relocated to Portland to complete a Pain Medicine fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University, where he was trained in advanced spine interventions.

Dr. McGehee practices patient-centered care with an emphasis on goal setting and gains in function as benchmarks for success. After a comprehensive evaluation, Dr. McGehee believes in a multidisciplinary approach to care, involving evidence-based treatment, patient education, coordinated rehabilitation and appropriate interventional procedures. His interests include developing effective non-surgical treatment plans for the relief of neck and back conditions and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
