Orthopedic Update 2014 – Earn 3 CME Credits

We are excited to announce our partnership with PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for an upcoming CME conference! The conference for primary care providers will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Rose Quarter’s Moda Center, and healthcare professionals seeking physician credits are encouraged to attend.

The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m., and four Rebound physicians will speak on their areas of expertise at the event. With a primary focus on the diagnosis and management of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, the conference will consist of an introductory presentation followed by workshop sessions. The goal of this conference is for attendees to learn best practices, expand their knowledge of cutting-edge and cost-effective treatment, heighten their awareness of advances in their specialties and earn physician credits from an accredited program for continuing medical education.

What Type of Physician Credits are Available?

Through the joint providership of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and Rebound, the conference will offer a maximum of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) and three hours of Category 1 CME credit for relicensure requirements of the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission.

About the Presenting Physicians & Topics

Stephen Southerland, MD, FRCSC, will kick off the morning with a discussion on knee and hip conditions and injuries commonly seen in the primary care setting. Dr. Southerland is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with expertise in joint replacement and sports medicine.

After Dr. Southerland concludes his talk at 10 a.m., attendees will rotate through three breakout sessions. Alan Newman, MD, will kick off the hands-on workshops by covering his specialty, knees.

Alan Newman, MD, is a fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty training in knees and sports medicine. During his breakout session, he will cover knee examinations. Dr. Alan has extensive experience in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in youth and adults.

Foot and ankle specialist, C. Luke Rust, MD, will focus on foot and ankle exams during these rotational breakout sessions. Dr. Rust is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in problems of the foot and ankle, such as sports injuries, arthritis, deformities and trauma.

Covering back and neck exams will be Fred Bagares, DO, Rebound board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. Dr. Bagares is fellowship-trained in interventional spine and sports medicine, and an experienced physiatrist who treats musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.
