Rebound Welcomes New, Highly Experienced Sports Medicine Physician

Specialty-trained sports medicine doctor James C. Chesnutt, M.D., has joined Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery. Dr. Chesnutt joins the practice with over 20 years of experience providing area residents with highly specialized nonsurgical fracture care, orthopedic injury treatment and concussion care. Dr. Chesnutt is available to see patients in Portland at the practice’s Rose Quarter location at One Center Court, Suite 110, and in Lake Oswego at Kruse Village at 4811 Meadows Road, Suite 101. As a specialty-trained sports medicine physician, Dr. Chesnutt offers comprehensive, nonsurgical sports injury evaluations, diagnoses and treatments, including injections, splints or casts, surgery, rehabilitation and injury prevention. He specializes in treating fractures (broken bones) without surgery and treating other injuries and exercise-related medical problems in patients of all ages.

Dr. Chesnutt has been working at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) since 1995, where he has served as the founding medical director of the OHSU Sports Medicine Program and Medical Director of the OHSU March Wellness & Fitness Center. Beginning with his Portland Public High School alma mater, he developed high school sports medicine programs across the whole metro area that provided sports injury evaluation and treatment. Dr. Chesnutt is currently a team physician for the Portland Trail Blazers, and over the last 20 years, Dr. Chesnutt has offered his professional expertise to improve health, fitness, and sports safety at the local, state and national level. Dr. Chesnutt will continue his complex concussion clinic and research at OHSU Family Medicine part time, where he serves as an associate professor teaching primary care doctors in the OHSU Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
