How lucky was I. First to be admitted 2 days after totally destroying my tendon. Dr. Southerland and Joel Phillips put me back together. Dr. mentioned I had some of the worst damage that he had ever seen. After three months of rehab, the bend was only 70%. Another surgery was looming. Dr. Southerland took one look at the knee and declared "go back in the gym and face the pain". I did, and he was right! After 8 months of difficult rehab, the bend is now close to normal. How important it is to receive exceptional attention during the process of healing!

Thanks to Dr. Southerland and his staff. I now have two new knees which I had replaced at the same time. I now can kneel, walk, ride my bike, do yard work and much much more! I would love to share my recovery and tips with other candidates for knee replacements. Again a BIG thank again you to all who helped me achieve the active lifestyle I now have.

Dr. Roberts suggested knee replacement as long ago as 10 years but finally had it done after retiring in Aug. 2014. Knee replacement is not easy but certainly made better with the care and precautions taken by Dr. Roberts and physical therapy. After 3 months I started golfing again and walking miles each day. My father and son both had Dr. Roberts do knee surgeries over the last 20 years. All were successful. I love no pain and activity is back to normal! Thank you!

After some discussion, Dr. Borus agreed that I was a good candidate for Bi-Lateral Total Knee Replacements, and I had them done in June of 2008. Within 8 weeks I was back in my dog agility class and by 11 weeks I could walk 5 miles. I was very dedicated to the PT, which is one reason Dr. Borus was willing to do both knees at the same time. He's an excellent surgeon and I received excellent care at SW Medical Center. Since then my brother-in-law, my mother and a few friends have had Dr. Borus do their knee replacements and we all agree that he's the best! I'm almost seven years post surgery and I'm hiking, showing my dogs in agility and other sports and more active than I was before I had my knees replaced. I have no regrets!

He makes sure he gets all the information he needs from you, then he listens to what you want to tell him. Sometimes it's hard for me to wait to tell him what I think is so important, but he knows what info he needs to diagnose and treat. He ordered an MRI which is what I'd wanted to have done. With those results, he offered treatment options, rather than telling me what I HAD to do. I've been very happy to work with him.
