My Comeback Story: Daniel D.

Back to Softball

For about the last 12-15 years my shoulder was gradually becoming more sore by the day. I couldn't sleep for more that an hour at a time because I had to shift positions due to the pain. I play Senior Softball and could only play first base due to my inability to throw. I had many doctor visits and tests, including repeated cortisone shots to dull the pain. Eventually I was refused even that, and was given a referral to Rebound and required to do the x-ray/MRI thing, at which time Dr Wei said my ball was 40% out of the socket and if it got much worse, replacement wouldn't be an option. 9/11/24 was my surgery date, and although recovery was at times painful, and always required work (PT) on my part, I persevered and eventually was able to sleep again and utilize my replaced (both ball and socket are new!) shoulder with little pain. I now can play all infield positions, as my throwing recovery has been amazing, and just got back on 10/19/2025 from the World Senior games where my softball team won the gold medal. Side note: I was the only guy on my team to hit one out of the park! Am I glad to have had the surgery? Absolutely!! I received the best care and communication from the beginning visit, to the surgery and then the PT recovery visits. My softball friends are amazed at my recovery, as most of us thought I'd never play again. I highly recommend Rebound, who had also repaired my meniscus in my knee 9 months before my shoulder replacement.
