My Comeback Story: Helen G.
I first had a cortisone shot to get me through summer 2024 before scheduling surgery in April 2025. Before surgery, I was working with a trainer twice a week which I think really helped me in recovery. Dr. Borus was very professional through out the process and explained what would be done. I was well taken care of in the hospital before and after surgery. I only needed to take Tylenol for pain after surgery. I used a walker for just 2 weeks. Renting an ice machine and recliner/lift chair really helped. Since I spend my summers on a lake, my PT requirements were: 1. bend over to tie up a boat 2. get up from sitting on a dock 3. get in and out of a kayak. After 2 months I went on vacation when I was able to do 1 & 2. I was told to take it easy for the first 3 months so I didn't even try to kayak until after the 3rd month.
Now, I have no pain; I have full mobility and I'm about to go to Egypt for 3 weeks climbing around ruins, uneven payment and wooden steps!
