My Comeback Story: Janice H.
In August 2024, I broke my wrist by falling backward onto concrete. My hand looked like it had been knocked half off my wrist.
I wondered if my arm would ever be the same. But I had confidence in Rebound Orthopedics.
In addition to the broken wrist, Dr. M discovered in the x-rays that I had carpel tunnel plus he said he could correct a problem with my trigger finger--it tended to briefly become stuck in a curled position. So we decided to fix all of those things during the one surgery.
Dr. M operated--and the operation went very well. Initially the stitches looked awful, but I felt positive that the wrist's appearance would get better. And it definitely did.
Doing things was difficult at first because it was my right hand--I usually write with that hand. Though I'm quite ambidextrous or mixed hand, it took a lot of concentration to do everything with one hand--my left hand--and a lot of effort. I went back to work as soon as possible and by the end of every work day, I was absolutely exhausted. Gradually this improved.
I did many weeks and months of Rebound physical therapy with Elizabeth Fanning--she's great. Under her and Dr. M's direction, my wrist and hand gradually improved during the 5 months of PT--improved in coordination, mobility, and strength.
The scar has almost completely disappeared now, and my hand and wrist are mostly fully functioning.
Huge, huge thank yous to Dr. Musgrave (and his team) for putting my arm and hand back together so well and for all of your help, your kindness and positive input. Brilliant work!! And huge thanks to the wonderful Ms.Fanning for all your help and encouragement through the process of PT, and for your patience and diligence. It all paid off!!
Thank you very much!!
The photo shows a painting I did this past summer of 2025. It's not the best composition I've ever done, but shows somewhat intricate work done by that right hand. The painting was done as part of a fundraiser for the local library.
